Study with Dr. Wang in Ireland!
Dr. Wang will be giving a 4-day workshop in Dublin, Ireland this June. It will be held from June 22 to June 25, 2012. For more details, please visit www.equilibreacupuncture.ie/education/

Here's what some students have to say about studying with Dr. Wang...

Having learnt martial arts for over 30 years under one of the highest exponents outside of Japan, and also having been an educator in Western medicine for over 25 years, I think I can discern the wheat from the chaff - and Prof Wang is genuinely the "real deal".
With over 50 years studying and practicing Chinese medicine, his knowledge and experience is second to none.  That, in itself, although almost unheard of in the West in virtually any profession may be not be that unusual in China.
What is different is that, after all that time, his passion for the subject is still evident.  His passion in wanting to pass on that knowledge is more than evident, and his ability to do so with little more than a chalk board to hand tells of a depth of experience borne from actually "walking the talk".  His ability to use everyday experiences as analogies to explain difficult concepts again points to a depth of knowledge borne from many thousands of hours of practice -  often lacking in many educators, who seem to gain their learning from merely reading books.
However, even after all these years his ability to read classical Chinese and to understand the ways of thinking of those that wrote classical texts, means that he is still able to "mine the classics" for further insights into his profession, together with reading books concerning western medicine, philosophy and history to try to further increase his understanding.
Finally, the icing on the cake is the way he delivers his training.  Not the "I teach - you listen" approach, very much he encourages discussion and the asking of questions to ensure full understanding of the concepts.  Often these discussion will take the class onto an unprepared path, however with Prof Wang’s depth of knowledge these turns often reveal greater insights into Chinese medicine.
If you want to learn "Prof Wang's top tips" or "magic points" then his courses are not for you.  His teaching is based on understanding the basic concepts - the anatomy (point location / channel palpation) and physiology (channel theory) of Chinese medicine (why things work in the way they do) which then manifest as pathology (syndromes).  Revision of the basics if often overlooked in the West in our rush to gain more and more knowledge - which often results lots of superficial knowledge but no depth.  Unfortunately without a firm foundation (borne from repetition and revision) this often falls down like a house of cards. If you know how and why the body works in health and disease, then you are better prepared to try to help in the healing process.
I have had the privilege to study under Prof Wang on 3 occasions (twice in China and once in Germany) and will hopefully continue to return for as long as I can travel and Prof Wang is able to teach.

My experience with Dr.Wang has being very good. I'm studying with him for 6 months now. At the beginning I did clinical practice, even though my clinical experience is not much yet I really liked what I've seen: the way that he treat patients, he takes his time to palpate the channels, to enquiry, to palpate the selected acupoints in order to be accurate, to get the qi sensation in every point knowing exactly his purpose, to select wisely the points looking for quality instead of quantity.... Just wonderful. First time I've seen this in China.
The lectures have been great too, He's the kind of teacher that isn't afraid of sharing his knowledge. I've had lectures on general channel palpation, on the extraordinary meridians that lasted for 6 weeks and now we're going in more details about channel palpation in each meridian. In each lecture he give us his pearls of knowledge, like as a gift, really. Even though I don't live in Beijing, every Thursday I have enough motivation to wake-up 4:30 in the morning and travel around 3 hours to have the lectures and 3 hours back later. Totally worth it!

I so enjoyed the visit to see Dr Wang this April, it is burnt into my mind as the highlight of my year.
For me, it was seeing Dr Wang in practice, actually treating patients, and seeing follow up appointments and having him explaining what he was doing and his diagnostic interpretation of the patient in front of him. I loved his reference to the classics and how he has shown the value within them. He was endlessly coming out with little gems that can only come from a lot of clinical practice, reflection and application. I loved the routine of the trip. Seeing him in clinic, having lectures and being able to ask him lots of questions. It was great seeing some of the techniques that he employs such as plucking and rolling and the golden needle technique. All of which have become a part of my own practice now, due to Dr Wang.
I especially enjoyed going to the Hu Guo Si hospital, observing him and then having one of his lectures at the end. I loved his lecture on the sinew channels. And the diversity of patients and conditions that we observed him treating.
I think for any future groups coming to see Dr Wang it is most important that the attendees have studied the book and are already applying that knowledge to patients in clinic, so that the interaction with Dr Wang is more fruitful both ways. I was going to see Dr Wang the year before, I am glad in a sense that I had done a lot of study into what he had written before I came over. It made a big difference not having to go over or get use to his approach, as this had already been done prior to the visit.
The visit really re-inspired my practice and gave me so much food for thought that I will never forget it.
